Decided to create two new categories for the blog, one is for Games since I’ve been more involved in video games again and the other is for local pictures of my town, and region which is called Algarve. One of the good things besides the weather in Algarve is it’s scenery and the peace that we have here, apart from some minor incidents which have been occurring lately with foreigners being mugged and assaulted in their homes by eastern gangs, all because of the stupidity that is the Shengen Agreement which I’m completely against, moving on… My town besides being really small has some very lovely scenery, mountains, forests, small river streams, etc. This place is behind my house, around 3km away, we call it Fonte Ferrea which in English we can translate it to Iron Fountain
, why the name?! Well because there’s a fountain there and it’s water is literally filled with iron, try filling a bottle of water there and the bottle will turn brown, so go ahead and taste the water, it’s not prejudicial to your health but you can taste the iron in your mouth. I used to play here when I was a kid, going up and sliding down the hills, running around the woods, and so on. About 6 years ago there was a huge fire in Algarve’s hills which almost devastated this wonderful place, thankfully because of our city hall hard work this place is back to what it was.

Very lush and alive, mostly because of the rain that has been falling since mid December, got a break from the rain today, I want my blue sky again
. Normally this place has no water because it doesn’t rain that much to fill it, but with all the rain there’s water everywhere.

My first try at an HDR picture.

Try to guess where I was while taking this picture.

Yes I was there, in the middle of those rocks with my backpack of lenses and the camera on a tripod inside water XD.

I need to be in front of the camera sometimes and not always behind it
.

My faithful car that has been with me for almost 6 years ^_^.

This Monday I’ll probably go even higher into the mountains to take some landscape pictures and go the small villages in the middle of nowhere to shoot as well.

the pic before the last one…. what an authentic steak on a bread! xD
wow nice stuff! I like your shots, especially your HDR image! How did you accomplish it? Everytime I try HDR, I’m not very successful.
It’s not simple but not hard as well. What I did was shooting three pictures with different exposures, -1, 0 and +1. The main issue is to keep the camera camera steady so a tripod is definitely needed, plus I used a 10 second timer, even with a 2 second timer there will still be some shaking. After that I simply used CS4 ability of HDR merge and messed around with levels layer. The program Photomatix can do even more but I didn’t try it.
The Area you live in looks beautiful as usual.I still dont believe you that theres EVER bad weather in that area
When you want to show your area to someone you never show the “bad” parts do you XD ? I have a couple pictures in my camera where the fog around my house is so thick you can barely see the road
