One of the drawbacks of having a big collection of both figures and gunpla its the cleaning time. Even if you have a Detolf from Ikea or any sort of glass cabinet sealed from top to bottom unfortunately dust always gets in so you have to take everything out to clean them and the cabinet itself.
OMG IT’S AN INVASION ARMY!!!!
There are many ways to clean your figures, one of them is using a soft brush to remove the dust around them but don’t use cleaning chemicals unless you want to literally kill your figure, other way that I found while circling through blogs is to bathe them but I don’t feel very comfortable doing this cause paint and deforming might happen especially on the Gundams which I might loose their decals, you can find more about bathing figures here.
Ok so the army itself isn’t as big as many armies other people have, still for some of my friends this is a huge army ^^.
Got an email from my cousin last night saying that she is going to start working on my mascot based on my descriptions and on some anime pictures I sent her, most likely this weekend I’ll have the sketches on my hands.

Do you have an airbrush ? Spraying air at low pressures works well if it’s not wayyy too much dirt on them, and it’s not invasive at the least.
Nope, I don’t have an airbrush, way to expensive for me at the moment.
There are cheap and good quality options, but yes it’s still an expensive investment everything considered.
By the way your army is much bigger than mine
hehehe , are they hand brushed ?
I use that air brush thing that’s for cameras and other lenses. It’s quite cheap and effective too.
@ravhin: no I don’t paint my kits, all of them are cut, sanded, cut areas painted with markers and snap, nothing else.
@coeli: I used an airbrush to clean up computers where I used to work but that was more of a super compressor than an airbrush XD
just like some of your friends, to me, this is also a huge army! hey at least u get to clean them ok… i’ve got nothing to clean T_T! lol.
Oh wow sweet. Haven’t done any cleaning yet for myself. Certainly Detolfs don’t do much to keep the dust out and I dread the thought of one day having to dust some stuff -_-
For the weaker particles of dust, you could always get those lens cleaning kits with the squeeze blower, and since you’ll probably have to use it one day for the camera, it won’t be a waste of money ^^
Gratz on the progress of the mascot design, can’t wait to see it =)
I bathed my figurines 1 time already, so far so good ^_^
I need to get an airbrush for cleaning
I hate that when it’s time for cleaning. I have a lot of figures and gundams too. Sadly a lot dust builds up and then, it’s time to clean. It’s a pain. You sure have a big collection. Jealous of some of the figures you have…
Someone just posted this on hobbyfanatics forums ! Interesting stuff for figure collectors.

I knew about some of those tricks. Placing them under the sun is no problem if you’re taking picture for a short time, like about 5~10 min in early morning or at sunset.
Putting them on the freezer…..well that might be an interesting idea if you have a freezer completely empty cause you don’t want your food to taste like plastic do you?!
Hey, Belela-san.
From my experience, the water has not left any lasting negative impressions on the paintwork of any of my figurines. Perhaps with repeated dunkings, it might begin to have an effect, but only time will tell.
Also, is that your study? It’s so… neat. I’ve really got to get my life in order. XD
Yes its my study ^^ but I prefer to call it my home office
Hey, if you ever need to dispose any of them, I’ll be glad to accept them lawl ^^
Mucho helpful!!!
Awesome collection. I’m developing my own right now. I only have 12 big figures(1/6th or 1/8th scale) at the current moment. But I’m getting more quite often. I’ve got loads of little figures too.
I have a ostrich feature duster thats uber-soft. Would that be ok? What about the cool setting on a hairdryer to blow away the dust? I saw someone on the replies mentioned a airbrush so would hairdryer be acceptable?
@meimi: you can use an hairdryer if it doesn’t release heat cause if it releases heat its bye bye to your figure.
Thx for visiting
haha I can’t even put all of mine on my table anymore when I clean them, have to put some on my bed
i got a detolf as well. i sealed up the gaps around the front panel and there’s no visible dust accumulation for 5 months now.
@sector6: what did you seal the gaps with? i’d love to know, it’ll be really helpful
i went into an art shop and got myself a sheet of compact styrofoam about 0.5 cm thick. i then cut strips of about 5-7mm in width and used double sided tape to stick them to the glass to block the gaps.
